Axis Apprentice Partner Event Inspires Future Careers in Construction
Axis Apprenticeships: Partner Event 2025
On the 20th February, we had the pleasure of hosting our annual apprentice event in the Stratford office.
This event highlights apprenticeships through Axis and shares the benefits of our successful apprenticeship program to potential apprentices.
This year, we worked with our partners to invite young people from diverse backgrounds across London to the office.
The day kicked off bright and early with an introductory talk from Sarah Taylor, Operations Director, about her career. Sarah shared with the group how she got into the industry, what she does day to day, and her top tips for apprentices!
This was followed by a talk from our apprenticeship team – David Leonard, Apprentice Mentor, and Michelle Workman, Apprentice Co-ordinator. The team were able to share insights into what life is like as an apprentice at Axis, what our apprentice mentors do and outline our vacancies for 2025 – as well as benefits and entry requirements.
Attendees then had the opportunity to hear from some of our current apprentices! Ranging from customer service to electrical to quantity surveying, there was something for everyone.
About her apprenticeship, Alana Sanders said ‘The amount you learn is actually crazy, because I didn’t know anything before and then I came here and now I know how to do everything.’
Lauren Karahan, on her apprenticeship, said ‘I’ve learnt a lot, you have to know how to be safe with what you’re doing. Axis help you with your Maths and English, and give you the time to do everything and the college are really good.’
Our apprentices were enthusiastic and positive about sharing their time at Axis, thank you to everyone involved:

After a quick break, prospective apprentices had a run down of the recruitment process at Axis and Navlett Simei-Bent, Recruitment Manager, shared her tips for a successful application. All before an insightful Q&A where prospective candidates had the opportunity to ask anything on their mind!
The day rounded off with some useful drop-in sessions. This included mock interviews, CV reviews, and our apprentices running practical activities and workshops! These were all invaluable to the attendees, getting to grips with apprenticeships, the construction industry, and how to get into a career with Axis.
About the day, Navlett said ‘Our partner event welcomed residents from our social housing contracts. It was a fantastic opportunity for attendees to hear from Sarah Taylor and her amazing career journey and to get a real feel for what it’s like to work at Axis and gain valuable insights into the world of apprenticeships. It was a privilege to be a part of the event especially coaching individuals on their CVs and running mock interviews A massive thank you to all our current apprentices who took part in the day sharing their experiences and running the practical workshops with David Leonard.’
Apprenticeships are at the heart of what we do – with 10% of our workforce being apprentices, we’re committed to supporting young people and creating opportunities in the industry. Thank you so much to everyone involved, you’re helping shape the future of our workforce and industry!
