Volunteers Help Estuary’s Nursery

Twenty volunteers help Estuary Housing Association transform Centre Place Nursery in Southend-on-Sea.

Chris Greatwood, Axis Supervisor was responsible for managing the project and said, “it was great to be able to work in partnership with Estuary, and we had some of the children from the nursery helping out too.”

Estuary’s Nursery Manager Deanna Gardner is thrilled by the renovation commenting:

Axis have been just brilliant with the children and staff, signifying a growing relationship between our organisations.

“For the first time in 9 years our nursery has got a well-needed fresh coat of paint, with Estuary staff volunteering their time to help out. Nicki, who works in the baby room, has come in with her son Liam during their summer holidays, showing how well-loved the nursery is.

“All of this has been made possible by our contractor Axis, who have provided staff and materials. They also helped build a new planter in the garden, increasing the number of play stations as part of the nursery’s ‘in the moment planning’ approach to give children responsible choices in achieving a balance between structure and play.”
