Our Sustainable Partnership with Emitwise

Axis has partnered with Emitwise, an organisation dedicated to helping businesses respond to climate change by accelerating the transition to a net-zero carbon world.

As part of our sustainable partnership with Emitwise, they have proposed a number of key objectives:

• Have a clear understanding of our carbon footprint and set carbon reduction targets.
• Meet our statutory carbon reporting needs, including Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting (SECR).
• Win bidding processes with more holistic sustainability data to differentiate yourselves from the competition.
• Identify emission hot spots and cost reduction opportunities.

There are many clear benefits to our new relationship with the company, both financial and sustainable. They will increase our long-term climate resilience as well as help us win more bidding processes. They can supply the relevant data to increase our competitiveness as a sustainable provider, and will help us show potential clients that sustainability is at the heart of Axis. Emitwise will help enhance our carbon accounting practices using their analytics software. It makes it is easier to communicate with stakeholders and inform our progress, helping to quickly achieve significant carbon reductions.

Our sustainable partnership began with Emitwise buying 50 square feet of seagrass in Axis’ name, near the beautiful coastal town of Porthdinllean in North Wales. Seagrass is a particularly important carbon sink that can store carbon 35 times more effectively than tropical rain forests and is a great ecosystem for marine life. This is a small offsetting program designed to reduce the overall footprint of Axis, and is a step in the right direction.
