Project Details
As part of a larger Cyclical Maintenance Works programme for our client London & Quadrant (L&Q) Axis carried out External Decorations at Woodstock Court. Woodstock Court, in Kennington in south east London, is a two-storey almshouse-style building. It comprises 30 one-bedroom retirement flats which surround a Grade II* listed quadrangle with a central fountain.
We selected all paints and materials to protect and preserve the property’s original features. These include the original bell cupola over the entranceway arch. And we also ensured that we matched all finishes like-for-like in order to comply with the quadrangle’s listed status.
Because elderly and vulnerable adults live in Woodstock Court we worked carefully to minimise disruption. For example we used cherry pickers instead of scaffolding to reach eaves and sofitts.
We provided weekly updates to residents and interested partners in regular on-site meetings within the communal living room area to keep everyone informed of the progress throughout the Cyclical Maintenance Works project.

“The courtyard, which forms part of our Duchy stock, dates back to the 19th century and the iron railings and timber windows needed repair and overhauling. We enlisted Axis to restore these key features as part of our Cyclical Maintenance Works programme, and the residents are delighted with the completed decorations!”
