Inspiring Women at MTVH She Is Summit

To celebrate International Women’s Day, three representatives from Axis’ Women in Construction group attended our client, MTVH’s She Is Summit in Wembley Park, London.

The event was aimed at girls, women, leaders, practitioners, and influencers and was an opportunity to listen, better understand and seek solutions. This year’s themes included: tackling place-centric gender-based violence in schools, institutions, and public spaces; supporting young women’s aspirations and employment opportunities; and challenging language and perceptions of women.

Axis’ Raechel Goddard, Contract Manager, Fiona O’Shea, Commercial Manager and Imarni Alcendor, Administrator attended the event to help generate ideas to design multi-sectoral services to empower girls and women, improve safety, and #embracequity.

It was really inspirational listening to the female speakers from various backgrounds and hearing their stories of where they have come from and the obstacles they have faced to get where they are now – Raechel

The summit was good for the younger females showing them they can achieve most things they put their minds too also having people speaking who accomplished things they didn’t think they could and being able to speak about how they got to where they did – Imarni

It was really nice to see so many girls engaged with the evening. They were all listening and asking some good questions. The speakers had were all relevant and had important messages to get across. I hope some of them go to future events they were promoting. – Fiona

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for being a part of yesterday’s event and sponsoring the summit. I hope you saw how much it means to the young women and girls of Brent that voices of young women are included when we think about placemaking with safety in mind for them. We couldn’t do the work that we do without you- Kelly Thomas, Social Value and Fundraising Manager at MTVH

Thank you to those who attended and represented Axis! Keep an eye out for further examples of how Axis’ women in construction group are engaging with young people and encouraging them to join the construction industry.
