Project Details
Axis’ Heritage team won a modernisation contract from The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn to convert a bike storage room into an IT server room where all Griffin Lodge’s IT systems will be located.
Our team installed a new MF ceiling which uses metal furring and plasterboard to create a smooth, seamless finish, and installed removable durable, ply walling adding a varnish finish.
We installed access flooring (elevated to create a hidden void for M&E services) and cable trays for computer servers. We also excavated the existing broadband duct and re-routed in preparation for new WiFi cables.
In addition, after stripping it and repairing any damaged roof trusses, we reinstated the roof with new tiles and lead detail.
Finally, we conducted external decorations and re-rendered the brickwork, adding new underground drainage for the new cast iron rainwater goods.
Other works included supplying and installing a security door to the vault and internal decorations including of the timber doors.
Throughout all the works we were careful to minimise noise and disruption for the tenants of Griffin Lodge – practising barristers in chambers, other legal professionals and educational establishments – and their neighbours.
Benefits
- Modern IT server room
- Future proofing
- Enhanced working environment for occupants
- Practical use of redundant space
