Apprentices Engage with Financial Wellbeing Sessions

ParentSkills2Go Host Financial Education Sessions for Axis Apprentices

On the 13th November, Axis apprentices had the opportunity to take on financial wellbeing and training sessions hosted by ParentSkills2Go.

ParentSkills2Go is a local charity to Lewisham dedicated to teaching new skills and creating opportunities for families in the local community.

We usually work in collaboration with ParentSkills2Go to offer sessions to residents of L&Q’s Lewisham Park Towers based on their wants and needs – including exercise sessions, health presentations and community walks. However, we had the pleasure of welcoming the charity to our Stratford office to host some positive financial sessions for our apprentices!

The sessions aimed to help our apprentices learn skills like managing money to build a positive financial future. The sessions taught participants how to understand their financial situation, how to manage money efficiently, what credit it is and how to build good credit, how to avoid bad debt, and how to work money through investments.

The 2 sessions across the morning and afternoon saw 32 apprentices engage with financial wellbeing. This was done through games and quizzes to test and understand the information provided and retain that information for the future.

Central to Axis’ approach to education is OV3: Develop – ‘train and develop people, their growth becomes our growth’; Axis aims to be a company where people can grow!

Speaking to David Leonard, Apprentice Mentor, one apprentice said ‘I wish this had been taught in school. I do not know how mum and dad managed to juggle things to give us what we wanted as I did not know there were so many things to find money for.’

The day was a complete success and really engaging for all involved. Thank you to ParentSkills2Go and well done to every apprentice who engaged with financial wellbeing!
