Axis Joins Forces with L&Q for Neighbourhood Clean Up

Recycling Day with L&Q Gets Community Involved in Lewisham Neighbourhood Clean Up

On Wednesday 11th September, Axis employees joined forces with L&Q, Lewisham Council and members of the local community to take part in a recycling day in Lewisham.

We were approached by our client, L&Q to see if we would be able to support the event on Excalibur Estate to help clean up the neighbourhood. We partnered with our supplier, Enva to provide two skips as well as volunteers who were on hand throughout the day to help fill them and assist with garden clean ups.

Representatives from Lewisham Council were available to provide information to residents and a place to dispose of electrical waste. We’re proud to say the team were able to help the community recycle 1,640kg of electrical waste on the day!

Daisy Foster-Chambers, Sustainability Coordinator said, “It was great to see so many residents making use of the skips. Some even having a garden clear out. It was great to see the L&Q and Lewisham Council residents seeing a difference in their community!”

Natalie Playfair, Community Development Lead at L&Q said, “The community recycle and clean up days have been a huge hit with our residents and the community, who have said they are so pleased to see the different organisations coming together to help them”

Talking about the day she added, “There was a real sense of community as we all mucked in to uplift the area and offer recycling services that can be harder to reach for some. The Foundation is keen to support the community with the things that matter to them”

A big thank you to Daisy Foster-Chambers, Vera O’Driscoll, Emily Scott and Francesca Fordham for assisting on the day. Your work will have a lasting impact and we’re proud of the whole team for their dedication and effort!
