Axis’ Retrofit training, qualifications and accreditations demonstrate our capabilities and experience in Retrofit works

1 The Home Insulation and Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme (HIES)

Axis is fully accredited for the design and installation for Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) following endorsement by The Installation Assurance Authority (IAA) for the Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS).

HIES is a consumer protection organisation covering the installation of renewable energy and home energy efficiency products.

2 Building Engineering Services Association (BESA)

Axis holds  BESA Compliance Certification for Heating and Hot Water demonstrating our competence and compliance with the highest technical, commercial and health and safety standards.

BESA was formerly known as HVCA Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association and is the UK’s leading trade association for the building services sector.

3 The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV)

Axis is OZEV-approved to install electric vehicle chargepoints and apply for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme EVHS grant on behalf of our clients.

OZEV works across government to support the transition to zero emission vehicles (ZEVs).

4 PAS 2030: 2019

Axis’ many fully-qualified Retrofit Co-ordinators can undertake government funded retrofit under PAS 2030: 2019.

By gaining PAS 2030: 2019 certification, Axis’ retrofit installers demonstrate that they have installed energy efficiency measures which meet the required specifications, and in accordance with TrustMark standards. Our PAS 2030 accreditation can help landlords gain funding for domestic retrofit,

PAS 2030:2019 sets a framework for the installation, handover and commissioning of high-quality retrofit works across both public and private sector housing markets. Under PAS 2030: 2019 a fully-qualified Retrofit Co-ordinator must be employed by installers of EEMs to access government-funded energy efficiency schemes.

5 PAS 2035

Axis Retrofit team is fully qualified under PAS 2035 compliancy standard to conduct whole-house retrofit works.

PAS 2035 offers an end-to-end framework for the application of energy retrofit measures to existing buildings in the UK and provides best practices for their implementation. PAS 2035 emanated from the Each Home Counts independent review and takes into account technical and occupancy comfort and lifestyle requirements – ‘whole building’ or ‘whole house’ energy retrofits of existing domestic dwellings.

6 Elmhurst Energy/Stroma

Many of Axis’s retrofit team are Elmhurst/ Stroma accredited.

Elmhurst is the UK’s largest independent provider of energy assessment, retrofit and property professional training, software and accreditation including ,from 1st October 2023, all Stroma Certification. Qualifications provided include Retrofit Co-ordinator, Retrofit Assessor plus Competency schemes in Air tightness and ventilation.

7 ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System

Our ISO 14001:2015 accreditation demonstrates our continued improvement of our environmental management system at Axis particularly in: environmental performance; fulfilment of compliance obligations; and achievement of environmental objectives as we and our clients aim for Net Zero by 2050.

ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It helps organizations improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

8 Trustmark

To demonstrate our commitment to quality work and high levels of customer service, our Retrofit team and our supply chain are vetted by Trustmark.

Trustmark is the only UK Government-Endorsed Quality Scheme for home improvements carried out in and around the home.

9 Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency (SWIGA)

Axis’ SWIGA accreditation guarantees our competency in installing sold wall insulation. As a SWIGA accredited installer member our projects are carried out in accordance with the SWIGA Quality Framework.

SWIGA is the Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency dedicated to promoting quality in solid wall insulation systems and installation.

10 Gas Safe Register

Axis is on the Gas Safe Register, demonstrating our competence in matters of gas safety.

Certificate No 154130

Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. By law all gas businesses must be on the Gas Safe Register.

11 National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC)

Our NICEIC certification confirms to our customers that their installation is safe, complies with the Building Regulations and meets the relevant Regulations and Standards.

NICEIC supports safe installation and maintenance in the electrical and wider building services sector and regulates training and works for electrical contractors and firms across the UK.

12 Retrofit Academy

Our Retrofit team’s qualifications from the Retrofit Academy include Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination & Risk Management providing knowledge and skills needed to become a Retrofit Coordinator; a crucial new role required by the PAS 2035 standards.

The Retrofit Academy develops new qualifications and training courses to support people and organisations to deliver high-quality and large-scale retrofit, as well as by working with colleges and universities nationwide.

13 OFTEC (Oil Firing Technical Association)

Our OFTEC-registered installers guarantee to householders that their heating is safe and efficient and that our work is carried out to meet compliancy and best practice standards.

Certificate No C11209

OFTEC works with manufacturers of heating equipment, training providers, UKAS, LABC and other industry experts. OFTEC’s UKAS-accredited registration schemes show technicians’ commitment to completing work that meets regional building regulations and industry best practice and provides consumers with safe and efficient heating.

13 Ideal Heating Expert Academy

 Ideal Heating Expert Academy training qualifies us to install and work on Air Source Heat Pumps.

Ideal Heating’s Expert Academy courses help installers provide the highest standards of service to customers and are Funded by the Heat Training Grant Scheme.

14 CWISC (Cavity Wall Insulation Self Certification Scheme)

Our membership means that CWISC has assessed Axis as competent to self-certify that Cavity Wall Insulation has been installed to meet the requirements of Regulations 4 and 7 of the Building Regulations 2010.

CWISC is  operated by The Installation Assurance Authority (IAA) in association with the British Board of Agrément (BBA), and has been approved by the Department of Levelling Up Communities and Housing (DLUHC).

15 IEGM (Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers)

Axis’ Company membership of IGEM demonstrates our commitment to delivering excellent service to customers, fostering your employees’ professional development, and helping the industry engineer a sustainable gas future.

IGEM is the professional engineering institution for gas who publishes technical standards and ensures those involved with gas to achieve and maintain the highest standards of professional competence.
