In a bid to mark Earth Day 2024, we took a proactive step towards environmental sustainability by hosting a Net Zero Masterclass conducted by our partners, Planet Mark. The event, held on April 24th, saw the participation of the executive team and senior managers.

Building on the momentum generated by last year’s sustainability energiser session delivered by Planet Mark, we sought to deepen the commitment this year by organising a comprehensive masterclass. Facilitated by three experts from Planet Mark, the session delved into crucial topics surrounding the pursuit of net zero emissions.

The masterclass primarily focused on explaining the business drivers for net zero, key terminology associated with net zero initiatives, and fostering discussions around Axis’ own net zero ambitions and the pathway forward.

Among the key highlights of the session were discussions on the urgent need to address climate change in light of legal imperatives, Axis’ goals, exploring the role of carbon offsets in mitigating environmental impact, and greenwashing.

Oliver Refson, Head of Sustainability, commented saying, “It was great to have so many of our senior management engaged on the subject of net zero, climate change and the drivers to decarbonise. Planet Mark were brilliant and informative at highlighting our role in the current climate crisis.

With 23 senior management representatives from Axis in attendance, the event underscored our collective commitment to embracing sustainability practices and driving tangible change within our operations.
