Axis Volunteers Climb to New Heights for Charity in 3 Peaks Challenge

8 Axis Team Members Take on Charity Peaks Challenge

On the 6th of September, 8 Axis staff formed a team to take part in the Public Sector Challenge 2024.

Our amazing Axis team was comprised of:

  • Glen Forward (Contract Manager)
  • Luke Bradley (Supervisor)
  • Anthony Vidal (Operations Manager)
  • Sarah Taylor (Operations Director)
  • Christopher Houlihan (Divisional Manager)
  • Paul Glover (Senior Supervisor)
  • Laura Cox (Head of Business Change)
  • Daniel Blake (Contract Manager)

The team joined over 600 participants from public sector teams across the UK to climb 3 peaks in 24 hours!

About the challenge, Daniel Blake said “The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is a mentally and physically demanding challenge. It is also one of the most personally rewarding. We have not only far exceeded the target for donations to an amazing cause, we have also learnt a lot about ourselves and our own limits. We started the challenge as a group of 8 colleagues but completed it as a true Team. I am not sure I would have been able to finish without the support of the others! I also discovered a fear of heights I didn’t know was there! A huge thanks to everyone who donated!”

Their route was a challenging 24-miles and included 1585 metres of ascent across the 3 peaks. The team took on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres), and Ingleborough.

The Axis team has amazingly raised over £3,400 so far, nearly £1000 more than their £2,500 goal! We’re so proud of their commitment to raising funds and are so glad they had an amazing time.

Anthony Vidal said “This was the hardest challenge I’ve ever completed. It was a fantastic experience that I shall reflect on for years to come. Lots of money was raised for a great charity so made it worthwhile.”

This event is a prime example of how staff at Axis utilise volunteering opportunities!

Well done to the wonderful team from the whole Axis family!
