This March, we celebrated both International Women’s Day, which honours the fight for women’s equality and the incredible contributions of women to society, as well as Women in Construction Week, which highlights the invaluable impact of women in our industry. Women play an invaluable role at Axis CLC, providing incredible contributions both on site and in our offices. We’re proud to recognise the incredible women of Axis CLC and remain committed to fostering growth, providing opportunities for advancement, and supporting professional development at every stage so everyone in our organisation can succeed. This is reflected in the 53% of internal promotions awarded to women during the 2024/25 financial year, and we remain committed to driving continued career progression and growth.
To honour International Women’s Day, we visited Thomas Tallis School to support their IWD Speed Networking event. Across the morning, our Social Impact team were able to have engaging 1-on-1 conversations with Year 8 and 9 girls about their career journeys and the range of opportunities available in the construction industry. Through this session, pupils had the opportunity to ask questions, learn about career progression and gain exposure to a range of unique and interesting roles.
Members of our team also visited St Ursula's Convent School in Greenwich to deliver a ‘Hidden Careers in Construction’ workshop for female students. This session gave students an insight into the wide variety of possible careers paths in the industry and encouraged them to consider roles they may not have been aware of before.
Across the 2024/25 financial year, we were able to engage 13,162 female students in career inspiration activities across 20 schools. We hope to increase our reach this year and inspire more young women into careers in construction. International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contributions women bring to Axis CLC and across our wider industry, while also reflecting on how we engage and inspire the next generation.collaborative approach to complete the works.
