Recently, our Sustainability team held an energy advice workshop designed to support residents in managing rising energy costs while making their homes more energy efficient.

Held on 9th March at the community hub within L&Q’s Lewisham Park Towers, the session was delivered in partnership with South East London Community Energy (SELCE), demonstrating Axis’ commitment to supporting residents and creating more sustainable communities.

Led by a SELCE energy advisor, the workshop provided practical guidance on understanding energy use and adopting simple energy-saving habits to reduce household bills while lowering environmental impact. Residents were also able to ask questions about specific challenges they face and receive advice to help them take control of their energy use.

To further support residents, we distributed carbon monoxide readers and thermostats during the session, helping to improve both home safety and energy efficiency.

The workshop event also highlighted the value of strong community partnerships. By working with SELCE, we were able to connect residents with expert advice that complements the sustainable upgrades being introduced in many homes, helping them make the most of energy-efficient improvements.

Our Sustainability Intern commented that: “It was positive for the residents to get such great advice about how they can get the most out of their energy supply & great tips on how they can make savings. It was a valuable initiative to work with SELCE as many residents get new sustainable upgrades and do not know how to maximise their homes to the new potential which is beneficial for their futures and the planet from a sustainable standpoint.”

One resident shared the impact of the workshop, saying: “I now know how to save money on my energy bills and understand that I can always get support whenever I need it with my energy bills.”
