Garden Clearance with Peabody Creates Safe Green Space at Palmer Estate

Tackling an Outdoor Project in North London to Improve the Neighbourhood

On the 24th October, 8 Axis volunteers took part in a garden clearance in Islington for the benefit of the community!

Following a recent successful resident engagement event on the Palmer Estate, our partner Peabody identified problems such as overgrown brambles and other unkempt foliage causing access issues for the greenspace on the estate.

Peabody reached out to us seeking volunteers to come together for a group garden clear up ahead of the winter and a resident’s community fun day on the 2nd November!

Axis had the pleasure of providing skips, gardening gloves, volunteers, and tools to make the space amazing and accessible again for residents.

Our volunteers who arrived for an early start at 9am and got stuck in:

  • Dave Allen, Divisional Manager
  • Andriy Demchuk, Contract Manager
  • Babs Lawal, Resident Liaison Officer
  • Richard Willis, Site Manager
  • Matt Aspinwall, Senior Contract Manager
  • Zerina Grozdanic, Senior Resident Liaison Officer
  • Roxana Dudu, Resident Liaison Officer
  • Rebekah McCollin, Resident Liaison Officer

About the day, Roxana said ‘The experience was truly enjoyable, spending time outdoors with colleagues and engaging in activities outside our usual routine. We had the opportunity to try gardening, and I would highly recommend a day outside the office doing something different. Cleaning the park was both relaxing and rewarding and seeing the residents’ gratitude brought an added sense of fulfilment.’

Babs added ‘The weather was extremely good, and it was a great honour to give back to the same community that we have been working for the past few years. It was a team effort, and I would recommend it to others!’

Andriy was pleased about the team spirit saying, ‘The park looked great, the team was closer than ever, and it was a great time for the community and the team alike.’

The client was really pleased with the result, with Emma Gladwin, Community Investment Lead, saying ‘The field looks so much clearer, it was a brilliant effort from the team in just one day! Thank you so much for the hard work – it really helps us achieve resident satisfaction if we can respond quickly to resident’s needs.’

Well done to the amazing team, your hard work has made a greenspace accessible to the community!
