Refurbishment FAQs

What types of refurbishment works does Axis conduct?

Axis’ comprehensive refurbishment works cover all settings including commercial, industrial and housing. Services include:

  • Insulation
  • Kitchens and bathroom installations and replacements
  • Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) / Link to M&E services page
  • Painting and decorating
  • Plastering and replastering
  • Reconfiguring space
  • Reflooring
  • Windows and doors installation and replacement

What does ‘refurbishment’ mean in the property maintenance business?

Refurbishment works include updating décor, painting and decorating (inside and outside), and re-plastering. It can also include some repairs, cleaning, re-equipping (installing new kitchens and bathrooms, for example), reconfiguring space and landscaping garden space as well as re-flooring.

Refurbishment works are often conducted as part of planned maintenance or asset management programmes.

What are the benefits of property refurbishment to landlords?

Refurbishment increases property value and longevity and boosts energy efficiency. Refurbishment providers modernise fixtures, improve living spaces, and address wear and tear, preventing costly repairs and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Landlords also see an increase in resident satisfaction as a result of refurbishment work.

What are the benefits of property refurbishment to residents?

Refurbishment works offer residents modernised kitchens, bathrooms, quality flooring, and better insulation. These improvements reduce living costs and ensure properties are safe and compliant with regulations, enhancing comfort and peace of mind for residents.

What’s the difference between “refurbishment” and “renovation” to a property?

Both terms, “refurbishment” and “renovation”, refer to the process of improving or updating a building, but they have slightly different meanings:

  • Refurbishment improves a property’s appearance and condition with updates to décor and fixtures.
  • Renovation involves structural changes, layout redesigns, or extensions to increase a property’s functionality and value beyond its original state.
