Axis M&E Team News

Four Oaks on BESA shortlist

Our works at Four Oaks are on the final shortlist for the prestigious BESA Awards in the Project of the Year – Net Zero Category.

Here, our M&E team designed and installed new air source heat pumps (above) and PV solar panels for the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames (RBK).

The BESA Awards recognise excellence in building services and reward individuals and businesses for outstanding projects, products and initiatives.

… and on H&V shortlist too!

PLUS, hot off the press, we are also finalists in the Heating & Ventilation (H&V) News Awards – Heat Pump Project of the Year category.

This year marks the 30th edition of the H&V News Awards, which continue to serve as the most prestigious celebration of industry innovation and achievement.

The BESA awards ceremony takes place on 17 October. And the H&V awards ceremony takes place on 28 November.

Alan Noble appointed to CIBSE Committee

Axis’ M&E Director, Alan Noble, has been elected to join the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) CHP & District Heating Committee for 2024 – 2025.

Alan is also a judge on the prestigious Heating & Ventilation News Awards which are announced in November. These awards serve as the most prestigious celebration of industry innovation and achievement. Alan has served as a judge for 11 years.

Alan says: “I take both these appointments to such important bodies in our industry as a great acknowledgement and recognition of the success of the work we do at Axis.”

CIBSE is the professional body that advances and promotes the art, science and practice of building services engineering. The CIBSE Heat Networks Group raises awareness and disseminates knowledge about both the technical and economic aspects of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) including both conventional equipment and new developments such as fuel cells and micro CHP.

ASCP Membership

We are delighted that we have recently acquired corporate membership of the Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP).

ASCP have  been the voice of safety and compliance in social housing since 2012.

We will be part of a community that supports and empowers members (including local authorities, housing associations, contractors and facilities management) on all safety and compliance matters.

Within the compliance industry there are six subject areas that form the ‘Big 6’:

  • Gas Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • Fire Safety
  • Asbestos
  • Legionella
  • Lifts

Being an ASCP member will keep us informed on changes and development in law, regulations and other compliance areas such as DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations), whether that be in the ASCP Community Hub, at Technical Meetings or via other online or offline meetings.

Finalists – ASCP Awards

Axis’ M&E Division were Finalists in the ASCP Awards 2024. In the Safety & Compliance Training and Development Award category, Axis’ entry was Landlord Gas Safety Record (LGSR) Awareness Training.

And whilst we may not have won the top prize, we were very proud to be finalists and to celebrate at the awards dinner where Jade MacGibbon, Contract Manager in our Gas Team, received her Level 4 Gas compliance qualification.
