Experience
How would you describe your experience at the company since you started?
My experience at the company has been a long road of learning and getting used to it but it has been a very positive time overall with people always there to help with any problem. Every place has its ups and downs but it’s through those experiences that I've learnt the most.
How have you grown personally and professionally during your apprenticeship?
I have definitely changed since starting my apprenticeship, I started in November of 2024 and since then I have become more responsible, matured and my skills have more than doubled in the trade, it has not only changed me at work but also day to day life, in confidence, commitment and ambition among other things.
How do you balance hands-on work with classroom learning, and how has that supported your development?
I don't often feel overworked so I have energy to revise over subjects I feel I need to look over either after work or if I need to, work can allow me some time to focus on college work. When at work I can apply things from college and even discuss them with my colleagues.
Support & Development
Are there any mentors / team members who have supported you along the way? How have they supported you?
There has been help from many colleagues/team leaders like David Leonard who's an apprentice mentor at the company, always a friendly face, first welcomed me to the company and makes sure everything is going well. Most of my time at the company I've worked with Ryan Taylor, an electrician. He Taught me a good work ethic and to not settle for less when it came to quality of work. I've worked with countless people who all given support in their own ways, and I would like to thank all of them.
What skills are you most excited to continue developing during your apprenticeship?
I think there will always be skills to learn throughout my career and things to get better at but i would like to gain a better understanding of Industrial work and high voltage jobs in general, separate from practical skills id like to learn to plan works and see them through from a designer side.
Do you feel there is a clear path for progression within the company? If so, what does that look like for you?
There are ways to progress in the company for example, after my apprenticeship, whilst not guaranteed you can get a position as a full-time electrician and after time even move on to a supervisor position or other roles that are suitable.
Culture & Benefits
How would you describe the company culture in three words?
In three words I’d describe the company culture as, broad, charitable, and driven..
What makes you proud to work here?
A reason to be proud to work here is because at this company we give back to the community by supporting different charities, estate days, and environmental support.
What do you think the biggest benefit of being an apprentice is with us?
The biggest benefit of being an apprentice here is the support towards completing it, for example after my first few months of working here I got a free set of tools to get me started and offers for different varieties of work to learn other aspects I hadn't seen before.
Looking Ahead
What are your career aspirations, and how is the company helping you work towards them?
I aspire to be good at what I do and someday have a high role in this profession; first step of course is to become qualified and see where I can go from there and it is because of the apprenticeship that I am heading there.
What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship with us?
I would just tell them to do it and not doubt themselves; it will take time getting used to it however it’s a great way to learn a profession no matter the trade.
