Axis Volunteers and subcontractors join forces to refurbish Pickering hall in Westminster.

In partnership with Travis Perkins, Axis volunteers and subcontractors recently joined forces to refurbish Pickering Hall in Westminster.

Our client, Westminster City Council approached us asking if we could carry out the works. Pickering hall had not been refurbished for over 10 years. Used on a weekly basis, the hall is popular with residents and community groups including the Hallfield Resident Association, older persons lunches funded by the local MP, and Westminster Community Council to accommodate for resident meetings.

Pickering hall is situated on Hallfield Estate, an area we are working in as part of our 10-year contract. As a result Axis where keen to get involved to provide the local community with a more welcoming space.

The team completed a range of works over the course of the summer, including replacing the vinyl flooring, fire doors and sanitary wear, refurbishing the kitchen area, and redecorating the kitchen, bathroom, community hall and communal walkway.

Axis’ Kathryn Hulkes, Partnership Manager commented on the project saying.

“The transformation of the hall is fantastic! We are delighted with the outcome and have received really positive feedback from the residents that use the space. The hall is essential to the well-being of our residents. It’s a friendly space anyone can use for activities or when socialising with other residents”.

Axis wants to give a big thank you to Terry Marsh and Harry Parsons for taking lead on the project. In addition, gratitude must be given to Subcontractor City South and Heron for donating their time and Travis Perkins for donating the materials.
