Project Details

Axis was employed by Gateway Housing to deliver a planned external and communal decorations project. Gateway is a well-established community-based housing association with 3,000 properties primarily in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Our housing division carried out cyclical works at 32 general resident properties situated a stone’s throw from Victoria Park. The community housed over 50 residents.

Our team provided a moss and shrubbery removal service across the whole estate. We delivered minor roof repairs alongside a drainage survey and downpipe extensions. The team delivered a full window renewal, in which we also replaced the Georgian glass panels.

We provided flat entrance door replacement works to the properties, as well as easing and adjusting all communal doors. As part of our external and communal decorations, we also completed a programme of exterior painting. Our team continued external works with brick repairs and pointing, including Helibar installation.

The team also provided a tarmacking service to the car park area between the front and rear blocks. We then laid new asphalt walkways within the area. Our team made electrical upgrades to the communal lights and provided a full jet wash to all community areas, removing any graffiti.

Project Challenges

We faced several challenges during this project, including COVID which caused a delay in the delivery of materials. Our team crowned a tree, outside the scope of works, as it had blocked access to erect scaffold. The team also had to apply for planning permission as St Marks gate is listed.
