Project details

Our 12-month £100,000 Reactive Roof Repairs and Maintenance Works programme weatherproofs and futureproofs MHS Homes Group‘s residential dwellings

Axis successfully delivered a comprehensive programme of reactive roof repair and maintenance works for MHS Homes Group, covering a diverse portfolio of occupied residential dwellings across Medway, North Kent and surrounding areas.

Properties included residential blocks (flats/maisonettes) including sheltered blocks and residential single-family dwellings (houses/bungalows).

Our contract involved both pitched and flat roof systems, incorporating full replacement, overlay works and targeted repairs to maintain structural integrity, prevent water ingress, and improve thermal efficiency.

The project scope included the safe removal and disposal of existing roof coverings, asbestos-containing materials (where present), and associated fixtures, with reinstatement works completed to current UK building compliance standards.

Our specialist teams undertook detailed surveys and feasibility studies prior to commencement, ensuring that each repair or replacement intervention met both the Building Regulations and MHS Homes’ sustainability objectives, particularly in relation to insulation performance and long-term durability.

Our team carried out all works while properties remained fully occupied, requiring meticulous site planning, tenant liaison, and safety measures to minimise disruption.

Benefits to Residents

  • Enhanced weatherproofing – prevention of leaks, damp, and mould growth
  • Improved energy efficiency – upgraded insulation reducing heat loss and bills
  • Increased comfort – warmer, healthier living environments
  • Aesthetic uplift – modernised, consistent roof finishes across properties
  • Long-term security – roofs future-proofed for 20-30 years

Benefits to MHS Homes Group

  • Compliance with UK roofing and building safety regulations
  • Extended lifecycle of building assets, reducing future repair costs
  • Delivery within agreed contract timescales and budget parameters
  • Positive tenant satisfaction and reduced disrepair case numbers
  • Strengthened partnership with a proven, accredited contractor

“By working with contractors like Axis we’re able to improve our customer journey and invest in our properties and homes creating warm, comfortable and decent homes for our customers. The works that Axis conducted helped MHS achieve their overall objective of improving and investing in our homes.

“We had several properties at Hyacinth Road that were experiencing damp and mould, disrepair cases as well as vulnerable customers. The works that Axis have completed have really transformed their lives by giving them a safe, warm home.

“This is the first time that MHS have had the opportunity to work with Axis. The service that they have provided to MHS and our customers has been first class. We’ve had such positive feedback and compliments, not only from our customers but also from internal staff. The hands-on approach that Axis takes and their true care and dedication really shows in the feedback that we receive from our customers” – Kathryn Dougal,Head of Investment, MHS Homes Group
