Supporting Candidates into Green Careers in West London
Axis Recently Attended the West London Green Careers Fair to Give Candidates Advice on Securing Green Sector Roles
On the 6th of November, Navlett Simei-Bent (Recruitment Manager), Jamie Laird (Group Sustainability Coordinator) and Dale Lovelace (Sustainability Intern) attended the West London Green Careers Fair on behalf of Axis.
The event brought together over 290 candidates and 15 employers to share insights and discuss the growing importance of environmental and sustainability roles in modern companies.
In addition to discussing our roles in sustainability, both site and office based, Jamie also delivered a talk to give candidates advice on getting into the green sector. This talk included CV tips and interview tricks, as well as an overview of the range of roles available, which transferrable skills are useful in the field and where candidates can access additional support and training.
Navlett remarked that “there was a real buzz from candidates wanting to get into the sustainability/green space from all different backgrounds. We have built some great connections with training providers as well as organisations who support those from underprivileged backgrounds”
Sustainability is a core priority at Axis, and we have committed to reaching net zero by 2050. Over the last reporting year, we reduced gas emissions by 69%. This marks important progress in our journey to net zero, but our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our own targets. By connecting with other organisations who share our goals and helping to guide promising candidates into crucial green careers, we are able to help nurture wider national and global sustainability efforts.
