Supporting Net Zero Week 2025

Encouraging Bright Green Futures with Axis

Across 5th – 11th July, we were proud to recognise Net Zero Week. The week gave us the chance to reflect on progress so far and highlight the action still needed to reach a net zero future.

At Axis and CLC, we have committed to reaching net zero by 2050. To get there, we are working towards:

  • Moving all suppliers to renewable energy by 2030
  • Cutting fuel and energy emissions by half
  • Removing high-carbon products from our supply chain
  • Measuring and reporting full scope 3 emissions by 2030

Progress is being made. UK emissions in 2024 were 54% lower than 1990 levels, and our own actions are contributing. In the last reporting year, Axis reduced gas emissions by 69% and CLC reduced electricity consumption by 11.2%.

The built environment plays a major role in emissions, accounting for around 25% of the UK total. By focusing on retrofit and decarbonisation projects, we are helping improve building efficiency and reduce the carbon impact of our work.

Looking ahead, we support wider sector goals such as retrofitting 97% of existing UK homes and ensuring 80% of homes use heat pumps by 2040. All new homes should also have low carbon heating by 2025.

Jamie Laird, Group Sustainability Coordinator, said ‘Reaching net zero is key to ensuring a brighter future for the next generation and it’s wonderful to see Axis striving to reach this goal.’

But net zero isn’t just about national targets or company-wide changes. Small, everyday actions matter too. Choosing public transport, reducing energy use, eating more plant-based meals, and cutting down on waste all add up.

We’ll continue to share updates on our journey. You can read more about our progress and targets in our Responsible Business Report and follow Axis on LinkedIn for the latest news.

Every action counts. Together, we can play our part.
