Helping Brentwood Community Connect

On Wednesday 23rd June, our Resident Liaison Manager represented Axis at Brentwood’s Community Connect Trailer on Brentwood High Street.

The Community Connect trailer is organised by Brentwood Borough Council. It travels around the borough connecting with people who may feel isolated or a bit worn out by Covid-19 stresses! Local people can grab a cup of tea, a chat and information about what services and voluntary groups are open for business and offering support.

Our Axis team were joined on the day by representatives from United in Kind, Vita Health Group, Neighbourhood Watch, Essex County Council and volunteers from Daily Bread and Brentwood Mutual Aid. The latter two being charitable services established during the pandemic to help support vulnerable people in the local community. Volunteers were on hand to collect food and toiletry donations from the public to be distributed between the two charities.

The event enabled us to raise awareness of the different services we offer at Axis and provided an opportunity for people to ask any questions about our work. Commenting on the event Clare said, “The event was a success! It was great to be a part of a food drive for the local community food bank and get out from behind a desk. I was able to speak with several young people about our apprenticeship programmes and also the general public about what projects Axis have upcoming in the local area in partnership with Brentwood Borough Council”.

Brentwood Community Connect Trailer was in Brentwood High Street on 23rd June with key partners such as Axis Europe, United In-Kind, Vitaminds (mental Health support) and Brentwood Council to name just a few! The idea is that the trailer offers support, information and key point of contact for local residents. I Personally, enjoy being out in the community and want to help as many people as possible, especially those who are feeling isolated and affected by covid. Even if they just come and have a chat and a cup of tea but can be the first step to helping someone who is particularly struggling.
