Helping Seabrooke Rise Estate Get Rid of Their Waste Sustainably

There comes a time when everybody needs a clear out! For residents of Seabrooke Rise Estate in Grays, that day came with the help of Axis. In partnership with Thurrock Council, we delivered a Resident Action Day on Wednesday 4th August. It gave residents the opportunity to clear out any unwanted waste sustainability.

The day was a success thanks to our partnership with Enva, who provided two skips for the event. Enva is a leading provider of waste management and resource recovery solutions, operating across 30 facilities in the United Kingdom and Ireland. They manage a broad range of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.

Similar to Axis, Enva has the environment at the heart of what they do. All of their systems and waste management solutions aim to reduce the impact waste can have on the environment. All waste collected, including the waste from the action day, is taken to one of Enva’s specialist facilities ensuring that as much as possible is recycled or recovered. Waste that cannot be recovered is often used to create fuel for the production of sustainable energy.

Connie White, Resident Engagement Officer at Thurrock Council commented: “The day was a great success with the support of Axis. They provided 2 large skips for residents to use in our high-rise blocks. Additionally, our caretaking team allowed the use of a caged van, to collect any additional rubbish from the estate. Both skips and the van were filled by the end of the events and residents were really grateful for the kind donation helping them to keep their estate clean and tidy. It felt good knowing we were able to do it sustainably.”

After winning the contract with Thurrock Council, we have kept to our word to support the local community through our community investment initiatives. In addition to this event, Axis are currently organising a Children’s Summer Art Project to get young people inspired and to let out their creative side. All entries will have their artwork displayed on Axis’ hoarding on the Seabrooke Rise Estate. Look out for more information coming soon!
