Collaborating with our partners, Peabody, to Refurbish Salisbury Manor Community Hub in Waltham Forest

In partnership with our local supply chain, LMP Installations, and our clients, Peabody, we completed and financially supported the refurbishment of Salisbury Manor Community Hub.

This project was no small task. Peabody brought together local businesses and subcontractors to collaborate and transform this space over a six-month period.

Axis and the LMP Installations team played a key role by installing a suspended ceiling, costing a total of £2,644 and taking 84 hours. Through this investment, a previously unusable space has been transformed into a permanent community hub that will benefit residents for years to come.

Based in the Primary School, the community hub hosts children’s reading sessions, yoga and dance classes, a local youth group and a food centre. The Hub has become a vibrant space where community groups of all ages can gather, from young families to elderly residents.

The open-plan, multi-use space now includes kitchen facilities, toilets and office space and has been fully redecorated. This essential work, supported by our team, has strengthened wellbeing networks for residents across Waltham Forest.

The hub marked its re-opening with two celebratory events in September. The first event gave local organisations and partners the chance to see the completed space and discuss its future plans.

The second was a free community event, with arts and crafts, games, a photo booth, food and live music. By hosting events and creating opportunities for residents to connect, the hub is helping to build a stronger local community.

A Waltham Forest resident who attended the event commented:

“It was a really nice day. We don’t often go out because wherever we go we have to spend money and with kids it’s very difficult. It was amazing to have something so close to home and in the community. The children had somewhere to paint and run around, and I got to have a chat and meet new people.”

We are proud to have made a lasting, beneficial impact to the lives of residents across Waltham Forest. Moreover, we look forward to continuing to invest in this local community in the future.

“When people walk into this building I hope they feel welcome. I hope parents find support and friendships. I hope children and young people discover new opportunities. I hope residents can access learning and wellbeing services close to home.

And most importantly, I hope this becomes a place where relationships grow and where our community feels stronger because of connections made here.”
