What kind of defence estate properties does Axis and CLC work on?
CLC’s Colchester and Catterick branches co-locate with MOD asset manager AMEY in a longstanding partnership to work on 12,500 married quarters in over 20 English counties and two Welsh counties. Properties range from a one or two-bedroom flat, through to a small house or a 9-bedroom mansion. They are all domestic dwellings, homes to Services families. And at the RAF’s estate in Cosford via Axis’ contract with Riverside Housing, we provide a similar service to 124 homes on the Cosford Estate and a further 22 homes in Market Drayton. We have also undertaken barracks refurbishment works to a training block with classrooms, offices and the onsite staff canteen/mess block).
What stands out in your service to the MOD?
To fulfil our clients’ objective – to minimise disruption in the family homes occupied by serving MOD personnel and their families- we carefully plan and stage our works. And properties on MOD estates tend to be uniform in style so we are careful to work closely with AMEY to ensure consistency in finish and look.
Why do you work on so many Voids?
The British Army will generally move people on every five years, in big units. The moves always take place during school holidays. That’s why we make 2,500 void properties ready for new service families each year – sometimes at the rate of 107 per week.
What is Amey?
Amey manages the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Prime and National Housing Prime contracts including the repair and maintenance of service family homes and other assets on the MOD estate. CLC’s Colchester and Catterick branches co-locate with Amey to deliver refurbishment services to MOD properties. This long-standing partnership enhances the safety and comfort of military housing assets for residents.
What are the decarbonisation services you offer for MOD housing?
Upgrades focus on sustainability and delivering energy efficiency measures, to ensure MOD homes meet modern living standards for MOD personnel and families: these include providing External Wall Insulation, which improves thermal efficiency, and modern windows and doors.
