Celebrating Learning at Work Week and Mental Health Awareness Week at Axis

In May, Axis proudly celebrated both Learning at Work Week and Mental Health Awareness Week. This dual celebration focused on raising awareness about the importance of movement for mental health and emphasized career development opportunities available to our team.

Throughout the week, employees participated in various activities and had access to valuable information highlighting the connection between physical movement and mental well-being.

Tim Douglas, Head of Learning and Development, expressed his gratitude to everyone who engaged in these initiatives: “Thanks to everyone who attended a session or took the time to read the information sent out during the week. Although we focus on these areas in special focus weeks, we should all be thinking about our well-being and our development all year round. Axis offers many ways you can support your mental health, and there are plenty of opportunities for development on our LMS, through coaching, and through formal training programmes.’

One of the standout events of the week was our very first laughing yoga session, held on Tuesday, May 14th at 12:30pm. The session was led by our very own scheduler, Amy Gill, who brought enthusiasm and expertise to this innovative activity.

Ronald Fraser, Training Administrator, shared his experience, “I went to the session with a little apprehension. But Amy is so good at what she does, the laughter just keeps roaring. At first, it is normal to feel a little awkward and self-conscious, but then it becomes so enjoyable that it feels well worth it. What I didn’t expect is what happened next. I was carrying a low mood for the past few days before that. After the session, the causes of the low mood were somehow processed, and my mood lifted, and I suddenly went back to my normal chirpy self. It really works! Highly recommended.”

At Axis, we believe in the continuous development of our team members and the importance of mental well-being. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the resources available, including our Learning Management System (LMS), coaching sessions, and formal training programmes.
