Project Details
Axis undertook a roof renewal and repairs programme to L&Q‘s Victorian house located on Stockwell Avenue in London. This historical property, divided into three separate apartments underwent significant housing restoration to ensure safety and comfort for residents and enhanced property value and appearance for our client L&Q.
We began with a full roof replacement (see our roofing services here), including the supporting structure, and installed a robust steel beam to ensure maximum stability and durability. This step laid the foundation for a secure and long-lasting roof. Our team expertly handled the demolition and rebuilding of the rear wall up to the first floor, ensuring the new structure met modern safety standards while preserving the building’s historical integrity. Additionally, we completely rebuilt the front parapet wall and the lower balcony, significantly enhancing the structural soundness and appeal of the property.
We installed new, energy-efficient windows throughout the building, improving insulation and comfort for the residents. The entire property also underwent replastering, providing durable surfaces ready for future decoration. To maintain the Victoria appearance of the property, we went above and beyond to re-create the original decorative mouldings. Both the interior and exterior of the house received redecoration, enhancing its period features as well as overall appearance.
This roof renewal and repairs project included demolition and rebuilding, replastering, full roof replacement, redecoration, and restoration, has significantly improved the safety and comfort of this Victorian property for its residents. By restoring and enhancing the housing structural and appearance, we have not only preserved a piece of architectural history but also increased the property value for L&Q.
