Project Details
Axis was employed by Silva Homes to provide communal repairs and maintenance works at Liscombe House in Bracknell, Berkshire. The property is an Independent Living Scheme, housing elderly residents across two floors of internal apartments.
Our team provided a range of works across the property, including a refreshing and modern make-over of the communal lounge area. We wallpapered the large room and provided further internal decorations while installing and decorating radiator covers.
The communal lounge area includes a kitchen in which the team delivered a refit. We provided internal decorations and the fitting of new surfaces. We then installed new appliances, such as induction hobs. As part of FRA works in the kitchen area, the team set up a modern Automist system. Automist is a fire protection system which we integrated with existing plumbing systems. The product was provided by an accredited automist installer.
Our communal repairs and maintenance work extended to the property’s hallways. We fitted new flooring and decorated with a fresh coat of paint to bring a modern feel to the area. Around the building, we installed new doors, including fire doors and provided new lighting as part of mechanical and electrical works. The team refreshed the two stairways at either end of the property with internal decorations, new banisters and handrails. We then refreshed the guest room with internal decorations.
Our team built a salon area for the residents, as part of their work. We fitted tiles on the wall and provided plumbing services with the installation of new sinks. This came alongside the furnishings which we installed, such as chairs, mirrors, and radiator covers. The team also refreshed the laundry room with new flooring, internal decorations and vent covers.
Project Challenges
One of the project challenges was a delay in materials which caused a two-week extension to the project’s duration. Once the materials had been delivered, we ensured the timely completion of works.
Another challenge of this project was working around the assisted stairlifts, however, the team managed to fit new flooring and provide decorations to the area without disruption.
