Apprentice Plumber Adds Gas Training to Skill Set

Apprentice Plumber James is now moving on to a Gas Apprenticeship here at Axis. Whilst studying at college, he is gaining on-the-job experience working alongside our experts.

Q Where did you first hear about the apprenticeship role?

James: Before working at Axis I was working as a plumber on site in contracts around London. I saw the vacancy for an Apprentice Plumber advertised online and was keen on pushing myself to the next level through studying and working at the same time. I walked into the interview room not imagining I would be here two years down the line.

Q What has been your highlight of your apprenticeship?

James: The highlight has been getting to meet all the people I work with. We get along well so that makes the job a lot easier. While doing the apprenticeship I’ve also gained a lot of life skills and knowledge on the technicals of the job that I can transfer wherever I go in life.

Q What made you want to become a Gas Apprentice as well?

James: I want to keep working with Axis, grow as a person and make sure I get as much experience and knowledge in the industry as possible. It’s a big change from the Plumbing Apprenticeship but I am willing to take on the challenge.

Q Any advice you would give to people considering doing a Plumbing/Gas apprenticeship?

James: I would say keep your head down and stick with it. You will see the benefits of your hard work in the long run. The job is satisfying and is a good bit of hands-on work.
