Attending Year 11 Futures Fair in Greenwich to Support Students With Their Next Steps After School
On the 22nd September, two Axis CLC volunteers attended the Year 11 Futures Fair in Woolwich, supporting around 2500 students from across the Royal Borough of Greenwich with careers advice and guidance.
With 15 schools present throughout the day, the event brought together a wide range of employers, colleges and universities. This gave young people the opportunity to learn more about the wide variety of career pathways and next steps available for them.
Our volunteers discussed the diverse trade and office-based apprenticeship opportunities at Axis CLC, while challenging misconceptions about the property maintenance sector.
Kate Thompson, Social Impact Coordinator, spoke with several students who had previously taken part in the Pathways to Potential programme earlier this year. This served as a reminder of the lasting impact that work experience opportunities can have on young people’s confidence and future careers.
Through events like this, Axis CLC continues to support young people into work and contribute to upwards social mobility in the local communities we work in.
