Axis Help Hutton Community Centre Thrive Again

In partnership with Travis Perkins, we recently purchased a new oven and extractor hood for Hutton Community Centre, a charity based in Brentwood, Essex.

The charities aim is to provide local people with a variety of spaces which they can use to run a range of group activities. From playing table tennis to discussing the works of Shakespeare, there is something for everyone, whatever their age!

Over the last year, the charity opened a small community café which is run at low to moderate cost. The café encourages users of the centre and other local people to use as a social hub. Around 100 people now visit the café per week, so to help meet the demand, an expansion was needed.

As the charity works closely with our client, Brentwood Borough Council, we agreed to support the project and help the community recover from Covid-19. Over the summer, the charity worked with local businesses, including the Co-op, Care Home and HAGS to refurbish and expand the kitchen and equipment for the community café.

The charity hosted an official opening event on Friday 27th August and we’re already doing a bustling trade! Jasper Clark, Treasurer of Hutton Community Centre commented,

Our kitchen upgrade project has transformed the kitchen facility at Hutton Community Centre. It is a significant step towards us expanding our Community Café offering for centre users and residents, complementing the investment the local council has recently made in the new children’s playground which is situated opposite.
