Refurbishing Queens Park Community Hut

Axis have been working with Westminster City Council for over 4 years as the Major Works contractor covering multiple sites, including Queens Park. We were initially approached by Queens Park Community Council prior to the pandemic to see if we could help bring their community hut back to life for the community to enjoy.

Over the course of the project, we have installed a new shutter, repaired and renewed the guttering and downpipes, repaired leaks and carried out ceiling repairs, installed a new kitchen, completed redecoration works, and installed a new metal door to provide the facility with disabled access.

In addition to this, we utilised the Travis Perkins Community Fund to donate £4,150 to QPG Community & Sports Hub, a non-profit community organisation run by a board of local residents and volunteers who use the hut on a regular basis. Our donation enabled the charity to purchase new kitchen items, educational equipment and multi-sports equipment to run their weekly breakfast and after school clubs for over 100 young people in the area.

We would like to give a special thanks to our subcontractors and suppliers who helped do the works on the hut. These included Estec engineering, Touch of class, J&S Maintenance, Easy Flow, K&K Joinery, Kanakos Construction, Howdens, Dulux and Travis Perkins. – Dave Allen, Project Manager

We are so grateful to Axis for transforming our community hut. We are currently putting together a strategy and timetable so that everyone can get a chance to enjoy the use of the hut throughout the year. It is a great addition to the local community – thank you. – Shuwanna Aaron, Acting Director at Queens Park Community Council
