Empowering Young Minds: Vittoria School Sustainability Workshop

In a bid to instil the values of environmental responsibility and sustainability in the younger generation, Vittoria School in Islington welcomed Daisy Foster Chambers, our Sustainability Coordinator, to conduct a Recycling Workshop on 26th January.

Last autumn, our Commercial Team completed school playground and internal refurbishment works to the school in partnership with Islington Borough Council. As part of our social value commitment, we agreed to deliver two workshops to the students.

The first workshop took place from 1.30pm-2.30pm and was attended by 12 students from the school’s council. Daisy took the students through the fundamentals of recycling, emphasising the significance of their role in preserving the environment. The session covered essential topics such as what recycling is, why it matters, the process of recycling, and specifically, what items can be recycled in their local area.

“It was lovely delivering to the school council; the students had some great ideas they could introduce in their school to encourage recycling. I look forward to going back in a couple of months to see how their projects have progressed”, expressed Daisy.

The Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion, Kat Lambrou, also expressed her gratitude to Daisy for her insightful session. “Thank you for coming in today and engaging the group. We look forward to seeing you in March and discovering what more we can do to help improve recycling in the school”, said Kat.

This initiative not only educates the students about the importance of recycling but also empowers them to take an active role in building a more sustainable future. A brilliant example of OV7: protect our environment – protect our future.
