Axis Wins Fire Safety Remedial Works with Chelmer Housing Partnership
Axis has been awarded a £1 million Fire Safety Remedial Works contract by Chelmer Housing Partnership, covering 20 residential properties on Travers Road and Fowler Road in Colchester, Essex.
The six-week programme, starting on 4 August 2025, will deliver targeted remediation and reconstruction measures to enhance fire safety and structural integrity across both buildings.
The Axis Fire Safety team will work on new build residential flats, comprising a mix of occupied and void properties, liaising closely with residents and Chelmer Housing Partnership’s Neighbourhoods Team to minimise disruption.
Scope of Works includes:
Installation of horizontal and open-state cavity fire barriers at compartment lines
Removal of existing non-compliant external boarding and localised insulation
Installation of A2-s1,d0 rated mineral wool insulation to prevent fire spread and cold bridging
Installation of Siderise RH open-state cavity barriers
Fixing of new cladding rail systems to existing SFS structures
Installation of new external cladding, including Hardie Plank or equivalent ship-lap boarding
