Axis delivered this gymnasium renovation project for the Metropolitan Police Service. The police place a lot of importance on the fitness and training of their officers, so tasked our public sector team to install a high-end gym and dojo in their training facility at Marlowe House. The project was part of a four-year construction and refurbishment contract, and our job was to completely strip and refurbish a space that had once been an office.
Our team started by running structural investigations, then moved onto stripping out the suspended ceilings. We removed the redundant partition walls, pulled up the flooring, took down the existing kitchen and carried out minor building repairs.
Once the space had been taken back to a shell, we were able to get started on design and installation elements. The team worked on fire compartmentation of the rooms and ceiling, then installed mechanical and electrical features such as LED lighting, air conditioning and ventilation alongside the appropriate rewiring work.
Our final part of this gymnasium renovation project was, of course, to transform the space into an impressive training space and dojo. We achieved this with bleep test tracks, a work-out area, a changing room and showers. Officers were delighted to have a new training facility, and we were happy to provide good work, on time.
