Project Details

Axis Europe was employed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to complete a programme of external and internal refurbishment works in West London. The project involved work at nine residential blocks including Frithville Gardens, Ashchurch Park Villas, and Linden Court. It comes as part of Axis’ successful bid on the South East Consortium’s Internal and External Works Framework.

Our team had a wide scope of works to carry out, including the addition of new rear exit block doors, new front doors and communal lighting to make residents feel more secure while at home. The team installed double-glazed windows which solved the issues of mould, noise and cold risks posed by older single-pane windows.

We applied Prokol waterproofing to the front entrance roof, communal walkways, balconies, bin storage and electrical intake roofs to prevent any future water damage. Regular maintenance and restorations were also carried out, such as the replacement of roof tiles and the repointing of concrete and brickwork. The team completed chimney works and parapet remedials as part of a programme of structural repairs.

Project Challenges

The Coronavirus pandemic posed obvious challenges to the refurbishment works which had to go on hold. However, the Axis team returned to the site in April 2020 after our resident liaison officer contacted each household to ask if residents would be happy with the project restarting. Only two tenants could not agree due to shielding. The team made accommodations for residents now working from home, by carrying out noisy work at specified times. We also offered to stop work at the request of any resident who had an online meeting to attend.

The good work at Frithville Gardens has been recognised by some significant members within Hammersmith and Fulham Council, including the Chief Executive who noted: “In these extraordinary Covid-19 times it’s great to see such achievement and progress”.

Resident Feedback

The building is looking fantastic and we’re in love with the new front doors! Thank you for the part you played in managing this project – Tenant, Frithville Gardens.

The work has been amazing, the workers on this project have been so polite. Very nice team of people. Very happy with the windows and doors – Homeowner, Ashchurch Park Villas.

Delighted with the new windows, doors and the overall professionalism of the workmen too. Thanks again for all the good work and if Axis ever needs any references in the future from a flat owner, please let me know.  –  Leaseholder, Linden Court.
