Project Details

Axis delivered repairs and redecoration works to these residential buildings above a high-end clothing store in a prominent position on the King’s Road, Chelsea.

Our commercial sector team began their programme of work with a full redecoration of all facades. The team brought in specially adapted scaffolding for the project as the facades had limited access to rear elevations. We completed a test patch of brick cleaning at the client’s request to confirm the pressure and finish of the clean. Our team provided high-pressure brick cleaning and masonry repairs, which were completed on all elevations.

Our on-site liaison officer provided assistance as the building, which comprises of five flats, received full internal surveys in order to check for leaks and working chimneys. This was prior to completing any repair work on the roof. Our survey was also used to provide information to a team installing satellite TV connections to the roof area.

Our team then took on a scope of internal works which included the replacement of a deteriorated ceiling in the basement, as well as full internal decorations. We selected high-performance class ‘0’ water-based paint for internal works in order to reduce fumes for residents.

Project Challenges

We faced a number of challenges within the repairs and redecoration works. Our team carefully and considerately planned for loading and unloading materials due to the narrow pavement, busy pedestrian flow and restricted vehicle access to the site. Our scaffolding was specially designed in order to raise lifts and reduce the number of stands to ground level, in an attempt to minimise obstruction to the shop fronts.
