Project Details

Axis completed a school renovation and construction project for Woodside Primary School in Croydon. Our works involved the construction of a new steel-framed conservatory-style entrance to the reception area. Our public sector team also completed various mechanical and electrical services and the installation of a DDA compliant WC for staff, students and visitors.  

We began the project by removing the doors and windows from the original school reception area. The openings they left behind were bricked up, while we removed the existing ramp and handrails. The team took up and removed all of the tarmac, concrete paving and bedding under the extent of the new extension. We also excavated the existing foundations and disused piping.   

Our team supplied and installed a complete above-ground drainage system to serve the new WC. We also made structural alterations to the internal walls because of the need to facilitate the new, re-positioned reception area. We also made alterations to outside walls.   

The team then erected a portal frame conservatory, with new windows and automatic doors installed. We incorporated a new secure entry system, complete with CCTV and entry buttons, located behind the reception desks. The final part of this school renovation and construction project saw our team introduce new carpeting prior to decorative works. New tarmacking and ramps completed the project.
