Our Walsall team delivered a number of sessions on passive fire safety as part of Build UK's Open Doors Initiative
From the 23rd-27th of March, we took part in Build UK’s Open Doors initiative, which invites the general public, including young people, job seekers, those within the industry and those looking to switch careers, to learn more about our industry and the range of career paths available within it.
Our Walsall team organised four 2-hour sessions across the week, welcoming local residents, young people and pupils from local school to learn about their work installing fire doors its importance, including groups from Braidtree Trust School for the Deaf and Volunteer It Yourself CIC. Sessions consisted of a presentation on passive fire protection, fire doors and the range of roles in this sector, followed by a practical workshop where attendees could have a go at installing fire protection in the CLC training room.
100% of attendees who gave feedback agreed that the overall session was a positive experience, the hosts on site were welcoming and helpful, and that the activities and demonstrations were engaging. We are proud to have been able to give attendees a taste of work in our industry and support Build UK’s mission to make the industry more accessible.
