Supporting Vulnerable Residents with Greenwich Foodbank

Axis CLC volunteers recently visited Greenwich Foodbank, giving their time to sort donations into food packages for individuals and families in need. Donating a total of 24 volunteering hours, our team was able to sort over a tonne of food donations! Volunteers worked together to create packages customised to the needs of individuals, couples and large families in need.

Greenwich Foodbank collects donations of food from local individuals, schools, businesses and churches, which is than sorted into food parcels offering 3 days’ emergency food for those facing food insecurity in the borough. Working with doctors, health visitors, social workers and charities to identify individuals in need, the food parcels provide a vital lifeline to support individuals and their families. In addition, recipients are signposted to additional support agencies to facilitate long-term support.

In addition to our volunteer hours, we donated £500 to support the ongoing work of the Greenwich Foodbank. We look forward to furthering our partnership with additional volunteering and donations later this year to provide further support for vulnerable residents in Greenwich.

Greenwich is one of the boroughs we work in day in and day out, and it’s been really nice to give back to the community in different ways and to help them engage with us and know that we are here for improvement to their home, but we also try to assist with their day to day lives where possible.

As a Resident Liaison Officer, I support residents every day, including dealing with vulnerable residents. It’s good to see the impact that the foodbank will have for those individuals.
