Project Details

Axis was commissioned to carry out external works to Hendon Training Centre, for the Metropolitan Police. Our public sector team took on the scope of work in this 8-week project which involved relocating the existing Main Entrance with Security Gates, Security Guard’s Lodge & all secure Access Control equipment.

Minor demolition work was included following the relocation of the existing reception and security modular buildings. During this time we had to provide temporary accommodation, including power and data links for the security team to maintain the secure barrier of this Met Police complex. The scope of works included the installation of a new security perimeter fence, security gates and barriers, installation of a Klargester cesspit/drainage system and associated electrical works.

The reception and security cabin buildings, existing gates, barrier, turnstile and electrical control cabinet were carefully dismantled, relocated and then reassembled into a specified location. We also undertook various groundwork, including a tarmac surfaced car park, yellow and white lining parking bays and directional signage.

Axis organised the necessary communication with the appropriate authorities regarding the disconnection, removal and relocation of the services prior to the demolition and reconstruction works. Minimal disruption to the daily operation of the premises was consciously maintained, in order to maintain continuity of the services to the occupied areas whilst the works were taking place. General site clean-up, painting and decorative works completed the project.

The Metropolitan Police were able to carry on with ‘Business as Usual’, training their new in-take of Police Officers and performing their Passing Out Parades around our work area once students were fully qualified.
