Project Details

Axis successfully delivered a historic building repairs project for our client, Royal Herbert. Our project took place at this landmark conversion at Royal Herbert Pavilions and the property is a Grade II listed Victorian property. We worked on the site which was saved (in 1990) from demolition and developed into 228 flats and apartments called the Royal Herbert Pavilions. Our contract took place at this secure, gated residential development which is situated at the corner of Shooters Hill Road and Well Hall Road, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Our heritage team took on a variety of works. We repaired roofs, including the maintenance and replacement of slate as well as cleaning and repainting asphalt. The team also cleaned and flushed all rainwater goods. We repaired the brickwork and took on a programme of render repairs. We also eased and adjusted all timber and metal casement windows as well as external doors. The team then replaced external floodlights.

Our team carefully matched all slates and bricks to the originals. We preserved the garden areas during the works since they were also grade listed, as the original hospital grounds. We then thoroughly cleaned all external areas removing dirt, debris, and moss from flat roofs. The continued by clearing roof valley gutters and cleaning window frames and glazing, balconies and parapets, as well as doors and signage.

As part of the historic building repairs, our heritage team also took on external decorations. This included the team repairing, prepping and painting masonry, lead and brickwork.
