Axis successfully completed a Victorian property renovation project at Herbert Mansions, a 4-storey block of apartments in the prestigious Knightsbridge area of London. We carried out external and internal repairs and redecoration works whilst the flats remained occupied. The properties are situated on Sloan Street and Pavillion Road, above high-end shops.
Our heritage team took on a scope of works which comprised of metal, masonry, pipe and gutter repairs. We also introduced new lead flashing and made repairs to the windows. We carried out specialist timber restoration and redecoration work to the doors and the front entrance. The team completed this alongside the creation of a painted ornate stencil. We also completely restored the mosaic. The team repaired exterior cement fillets and replaced the steps of Pavilion Road, with a new staircase constructed to the exterior of Sloane Street.
The team programmed and executed a strip out, repair and refurbishment to the interior of Sloane Street. However, our work caused minimal disruption to the dental practice and the occupied residents of the building. We refurbished the lift compartment with a specialist paint spray finish to the lift door. Our interior works also included timber repair, joinery, and the installation of new lighting.
As part of the Victorian property renovation, our team also redecorated to the lobby with a bespoke radiator cabinet made of tulipwood and a decorative grill. We also installed six NR lockable post boxes and a black Carrara marble shelf. We completed the works across a 16-week period.
