Project Details
Axis completed a lift lobby upgrade project at a financial institution in Canary Wharf. Our commercial division took on a scope of works that involved the redecoration of walls, timber doors and frames. Our team scheduled the works into a twelve-phase programme. The contract was valued at £400,000 and planned for a 16-week duration.
Our team began in the two lift lobbies, where we stripped the carpet and replaced it with a black slate floor, with carpet tile inlay. Next, we removed the timber panelling and replaced it with a white-backed glass to finish the space. Our client’s aim was to achieve a brighter and more welcoming lobby area and we reached that objective.
As part of the same lift lobby upgrade project, we also lifted and laid new carpet tiles throughout the floor space and created two new breakout areas. We treated these new areas with black slate flooring and glazed screens in oak frames. The team did this to separate the lift lobby areas from the other working areas, which allowed a less distractive space.
Project Challenges
One of our main challenges within this programme of works was to ensure that the project did not cause any disturbance to the normal working staff within the fully operational office. To ensure this minimal disruption, we completed our work outside of normal working hours. The commercial team completed the project snag-free, on time and within the budget.
