Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) are an increasingly popular eco-friendly method of transferring and warming air from the outside to heat both inside space and water
Benefits
High energy efficiency
Reduced energy bills
Reduced carbon footprint
Comfortable mean temperature all year round
No gas in the property (no flues)
Project Details
To a private residence we installed high-specification, highefficiency Vaillant products including:
- Vaillant aroTHERM plus 7kW Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) with aroTHERM plus Sound Safe System for minimal noise
- Vaillant uniSTOR 300 litre unvented hot water storage cylinder
- Vailllant 45 litre buffer vessel to the underfloor heating system
- Vaillant smart controls
The whole system efficiently converts outside air to usable energy to heat the water and the central heating system in the residence. It is electrically run, and Smart controls ensure a comfortable mean temperature for the home all year round as well as high-efficiency hot water.
Our team re-sited the garden path to accommodate installing the ASHP outside the property; and despite the challenges of confined space under the stairs, we fitted the buffer vessel and most of the pipework here, upgrading the pipework to 35mm and 28mm. As the system uses no gas at all, carbon emissions are greatly reduced and we are looking to install more similar energy efficient products as we work towards Net Zero.
Air Source Heat Pump Installation Accreditations
This pilot Air Source Heat Pump Installation project was used in our portfolio which gained us our Installation Assurance Authority (IAA) accreditation for the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps. The application process included gaining accreditation for the Home Insulation & Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme (HIES), which is a Consumer Code that provides protection for homeowners when using a Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS) member for their home energy or renewable energy installations.
Being a member of the Microgeneration Certificate Scheme allows us to apply for government grants for Microgeneration Technologies.
