Painting Masterclass Transforms Community Centre

21 volunteers from Axis, the Hyde Group, AkzoNobel and the Kennington Park Estate Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (KPETRA) redecorated Kennington Park Community Centre during a ‘painting day’.

The Axis team, led by Site Manager Shaun Cosgrove, prepped in the morning and started the day with a painting master-class to show less-experienced volunteers how to paint in the best way. Right on the doorstep of our (former) Vauxhall office, Kennington Park Community Centre is next door to the Oval Cricket Ground.

“Over the course of the few days, we worked alongside the client and resident who takes control of the hall on a daily basis, Marilyn Evers. It’s rewarding to oversee projects of this nature when working alongside clients and members of the community, especially with unlimited tea and biscuits!” explains Shaun.

Marilyn Evers, Head of KPETRA said:

We are delighted with the appearance of the Community Centre following the much needed decorating undertaken by volunteers from Hyde, Axis and AkzoNobel. Everyone who helped did a great job and we are very grateful. Regular users of the Community Centre are telling us how good it looks. The fresh, clean appearance will help to attract more users.

The painting day marked the completion by Axis of the 2-year painting & decorating project of the estate. Read more of our CSR news, here.
