Project Details
The Portman Estate awarded Axis a contract for period property restoration works. Our heritage division delivered internal and external repairs as well as redecorations on several of their prestigious properties and communal areas. We provided a sensitive approach to this project because some of the architecture dates back to the mid-1800s. Our work within this redecorations and repairs contract took place at a series of properties in Marylebone, London. This included Wyndham Place, Manchester Street and Gloucester Place Mews.
We have extensive knowledge and experience of working on Heritage properties. This meant we were able to offer advice and skills when carrying out all of the sensitive works. We began this project with external works. The team inspected roofs and, where visible, timber was assessed for defects or damage. We then repaired or replaced the wood and materials accordingly. Our team completed all of the redecorations to the previously painted surfaces with care and consideration, to ensure the building’s original features were not compromised. We also ensured that the originality and unique state of the features were maintained. The team inspected all surfaces and treated them as necessary before our painting work began.
Because of the period property restoration works, our team also carefully treated the interior works. We were responsible for redecorating period staircases, lighting, fireplaces, and furniture. We ensured all aspects of the internal areas were in good condition and that the authentic character of the building remained. Our Resident Liaison Officers communicated to tenants any work that may have affected them, whilst working with the commitment not to disturb or inconvenience residents.
