Project Details

Axis replaced 48 roofs in three months in Phase One of a pilot roof replacement programme as part of our new 5-year Capital Works contract with Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Following asbestos surveys we removed the tiles, felt and batten and then re-instated with an upgraded system using both interlocking and plain tile systems. We used a dry ridge system to secure the tiles and we also replaced the fascia, soffit and guttering on every property. New lead flashing will keep the roof joints waterproof. Our team adapted the scaffold adding a stack allowing us to repoint and flaunch the chimneys too.

Benefits

  • Future proofing: Our works have increased the life span of each roof, reducing repair and maintenance costs for our client.
  • EPC rating: We also insulated the loft to above the required regulation to help our client achieve their target of EPC rating C.
  • Reduced heating bills: include a better-insulated property makes the home more efficient to heat.

Axis and RBG
Via a mini-competition off the South East Consortium’s Internal and External Building Works Framework, The Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG) appointed Axis as one of three contractors to deliver their Major Capital Works Programme. This is a 5-year, long-term renewal improvements programme which commenced in October 2023.

Axis did my roof in a couple of days. The old roof was put on when the houses were built in the 1950s. This new roof is much better than the old one. My house is much warmer, less draughty. It was a really quick and well-done job. – Robert, RBG Resident
