Project Details
Axis delivered an extensive window and facade renovation project at Regent’s University in London. This project was commissioned by our client the Crown Estate and saw works carried out to three university buildings – Pilcher, Darwin and Oliver.
Our team took on a varied scope of works which included the exterior repair and decoration of the Crittall windows on each of the three buildings. We also repaired the external doors and had our timber experts restore the decorative timberwork.
As well as the lead work, the team completed all brickworks and repointing. This was delivered alongside the roof work and drainage repairs, which included cast iron downpipe and hopper decorations. Our repainting and repointing throughout the facade renovation project matched the existing colours, from the Crown Estate’s approved stipulations. Plants also had to be removed to facilitate a cleaning programme.
Project Challenges
One of the challenges that our team faced included the programme of non-abrasive cleaning. This involved removing all dirt and algae from the buildings, being careful to keep the brickwork in an excellent condition throughout.
The university campus was occupied throughout the facade restoration, which was another challenge for the team. We took care not to cause any disruption to the occupants over the 10-week project and successfully completed the full programme of works by the beginning of the autumn term.
